Backyard Lap Timer is an experimental browser app for timing RC car laps. This policy describes what the current app stores and what may be processed by the services used to deliver it.
Data stored on your device
The app saves your Garage profiles and completed practice sessions in this browser's local storage. This can include pilot, car and setup names or notes; track, layout, surface and condition details; session dates and modes; lap times; and edits or validity notes. This information remains in the browser profile for this site. The app does not currently upload lap history or Garage data to an app server or synchronize it between devices.
Clearing this site's browser data can remove locally saved information. The app's backup and restore tool creates or reads a file on your device; it does not upload that file. Keep a separate backup if you want to preserve your records.
Camera and two-device mode
If you choose to open a camera, the browser asks for camera permission. Video is analyzed in the browser for finish-line crossings. The app does not send camera video to its servers. If you deliberately pair a Sensor and Viewer, their video, lap display and control messages travel directly between the two browsers using WebRTC on a reachable local network. The app does not relay that connection through an app server. You can disconnect the Viewer at any time.
Hosting and technical requests
The app's static files are hosted by Cloudflare Pages. When your browser requests those files, Cloudflare may process technical request information, such as IP address, browser details and request time, to deliver and protect the hosting service. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. Backyard Lap Timer does not add advertising trackers or a third-party analytics service. Lap statistics and comparisons are calculated in your browser.
Accounts and Google sign-in
Account sign-in is not available in the current app. If Clerk and Google sign-in are added, Clerk will process the account information needed to authenticate you, and Google will provide the basic identity information requested on the consent screen, such as your email address, name and profile picture. The app does not request access to Google Drive, Gmail, contacts or other Google services. See Clerk's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy. This policy will be updated before any account feature collects information.
Your choices and questions
You can choose not to grant camera permission and can use the app without an account. To remove local records, clear this site's data in your browser after exporting anything you want to keep. For a privacy question or request, contact the project through the project issue page. Please do not post private information there; ask for a private contact channel.
